Wow, what a milestone! On Thursday, April 14th Rylee and Reagan turned one and what a year it has been. I can't help pondering over the previous year and a half that led up to this special occasion! Every time I begin to think back over the course of this year my eyes fill up with tears and realize just how much God was with our family and maybe you can understand why....In August of 2009, Grey and I found out we were expecting again. It wasn't until the first appointment and ultrasound that we both started laughing when the ultrasound tech asked, "do twins run in your family?" As Grey and I were coming to terms with reality that there would be TWO babies we were also faced with the biggest decision of our marriage. Grey had the opportunity to advance his career with SouthernCare, which is great, it just meant one thing...we had to move. As crazy as it sounded we felt like it would be best for our family so as of October 1st he was hired as the clinical director of the Daphne office but there was one condition...we(me and kids) would stay in Demopolis until babies were born and hopefully by then our house would have sold. With the exception of a few visits to baldwin county, Grey would come home on Friday evening and leave for work Monday morning early enough to be there by 8am (a 2 1/2 hr drive). The twins were born and after 8 months on the market our house in Demopolis finally sold, so July 4th weekend we moved our things in storage and were together again as a family, maybe a little too much togetherness! We all piled in a one bedroom apartment which Grey and I never dreamed we would complete a one year lease which began in November 2009! I quote my mom "This too shall pass!" When we were looking for Grey a temporary place to live we were trying to find somewhere we could break the lease without much of a penalty. Forget that penalty! we just didn't renew the lease! After searching and searching, and believe me I became very familiar with EVERY neighborhood in Daphne, Fairhope and Spanish Fort, we found the perfect home...the end was near! On October 22nd we closed on our current home in Daphne and moved in the next weekend! This past year has definitely been a roller coaster, and now as we celebrate Rylee and Reagan's one year birthday there is just so much more to be thankful for too! You just really can't be thankful for what you have now until you realize where you have been.
Ok, back to the Par-tay! We were able to celebrate with family on Saturday the 16th which also happened to be Poppie's birthday too (grey's dad). If you are like me with first birthdays, the most anticipated part is the cake! Well, I was hoping to have just one child that would just dig in and go for it but not the case...all I got was stares, a cry from Reagan, and "oh my gosh what is this cupcake as big as me doing here"! They did great thru all the hoop-la and were thankful for all their many presents, ha!
